During neck liposuction, a small cannula is used to gently remove fat. It is placed under the skin through a small incision that is made just below the chin. The incision location makes scarring almost completely invisible. Dr. Williams uses the tumescent liposuction technique during neck liposuction. This involves carefully injecting an IV solution containing a numbing medicine and epinephrine into the existing fat. This helps minimize post-op discomfort and bruising. The fluid and fat are then gently removed through the cannula.The result is a smooth, better contoured neck with minimal post-op discomfort. 

Good candidates are men or women who demonstrate:

• Localized fat deposits under the chin
• Looseness of neck muscle and/or neck skin
• Non-smokers or those who have ceased smoking 3 months prior to the procedure
• Overall good health

During the initial consultation, Dr. Williams will evaluate your neck skin quality and looseness as well as determine how much fat is present in the neck and to what degree the muscle tone affects the overall appearance. He will then recommend the proper procedure to achieve the best results. You may need neck liposuction, a neck lift or both.

Swelling and bruising will be present after neck surgery. A compressive neck dressing is used to help control swelling and to help the neck skin adapt to the new neck contour. Most patients can resume modest activity in 2 weeks. A complete recovery from neck surgery typically occurs in about 3 – 4 weeks. This surgery creates a tighter neck that appears softer and younger.
