Overview
A brow lift or forehead lift has several functions, including correcting the low position of the eyebrows, softening horizontal creases across the forehead, and correcting the worried or angry expression that can result from frown lines. While there is no age limit for the procedure, brow lifts are generally performed by our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. John Williams, for men and women in the 40–60 year age range. Dr. Williams is highly skilled in the latest brow lifting techniques, such as the endoscopic brow lift. With 3 – 5 small incisions behind the hairline, the lift is performed with specialized instrumentation and a small camera device. This allows for minimal downtime, well-hidden incisions, and limited complications.

Best Candidates
The best candidates for those seeking brow lift surgery, include men and women who have:
- Sagging or low position of the eyebrows, creating a tired or sad appearance
- Deep horizontal creases across the forehead
- Frown lines or furrows across the top of the nose and between each eyebrow
- Non-smokers in overall good health
What to Expect
During the initial consultation, we will evaluate the overall health of the skin, which will include skin quality and looseness. Dr. Williams will also evaluate the folds and wrinkles of the forehead and hairline, as well as the position of the inner, middle and outer portions of the eyebrows and the upper eyelids. This evaluation will help him to determine if a brow lift is the best procedure or if an upper eyelid lift is also needed. Dr. Williams has been performing endoscopic brow lifts for over 20 years and his patients love the results. He will not perform the more invasive lift called a coronal lift because of the extensive scarring and potential for hair loss and scalp numbness, all of which is minimized with the endoscopic approach.
Brow Lift Recovery
Swelling and bruising are expected on the forehead and eyes after brow lift surgery, although this will vary between patients. This swelling subsides within the first 1-2 weeks. The forehead may have some decreased sensation that will improve over time. Most patients can resume modest activity in 7-10 days, with a complete recovery in about 3-4 weeks.
