Of all cosmetic procedures, Scottsdale, AZ board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. John Williams, believes that neck surgery (with or without neck liposuction) can create a striking improvement for many patients. Also known as platysmaplasty, a neck lift focuses on enhancing the neck area by removing sagging, loose neck skin ("turkey neck"), and fatty deposits. During a consultation with Dr. Williams, he will discuss with you how a neck lift will fine tune your neck line to look younger and tighter.
A neck lift can be combined with other plastic surgery treatments and surgeries at the same time for symmetry, and to help you obtain the look you really desire to achieve. We offer facial rejuvenation treatments as well to help keep your skin looking younger beyond having plastic surgery.
During neck liposuction, a small cannula is used to gently remove fat. It is placed into the skin through a small incision that is made just below the chin. The incision location makes scarring almost completely invisible. Most surgeons use the tumescent ("superwet") liposuction technique during neck liposuction. The neck will be massaged while the fat is being removed to ensure that all fatty pockets have been addressed, and that the neck has a smooth contour.
"I could not be happier with Dr. Williams and his staff. From the first appointment he made me feel comfortable and provided so much information. "It's been almost a year since my breast augmentation and I am extremely happy with the work Dr. Williams performed. Not only am I happy with the results, during the whole process (pre, during, and post surgery), Dr Williams and his staff were EXTREMELY supportive. They answered any and ALL questions and concerns I had. I was pretty nervous throughout my healing process but they reassured me everything I was experiencing was completely normal and made sure I was not experiencing any negative symptoms. I highly recommend Dr. Williams. He and his team are phenomenal!! :) :)"- A.B. / Google / Mar 09, 2018
"My experience with Dr. John Williams was the most amazing experience I've had. Out of all the Plastic Surgeons I have seen in the past, he by far was the best decision I ever made. The first time I seen him, there was no other choice to see another Plastic Surgeon, My decision was made right away. I have to say that him and his wonderful office staff made me feel so comfortable and at home from the moment I called the office just to set up a consultation to the last time I seen him. Nicole and Mckenna were so amazing! After about 9 years to finally decide to get implants, Dr. Williams changed my life forever. I absolutely recommend him to everyone and if you are still trying to decide then at least make an appointment to go and talk to him. I want to say a big Thank You to Dr. Williams for helping me become more self confident and that you changed my life."- J.S. / Yelp / Aug 21, 2017
Good candidates are men or women who demonstrate:
- Localized fat deposits under the chin
- Looseness of neck muscle and/or neck skin
- Non-smokers or those who have ceased smoking 2 months prior to the procedure
- Overall good health
What to Expect
During the initial consultation, we will evaluate the patient’s underlying bone anatomy and make a determination as to whether the chin position and its influence on the appearance of the neck is an issue. This evaluation will help piece together an individual treatment plan. During surgery, an incision is typically made under the chin. If there are fat pockets present, the excess fat will be removed with liposuction. Then, any loose skin is excised and trimmed away. The final step is when the underlying tissue and muscles are pulled tight and the remaining skin re-draped and secured with sutures to produce a more youthful neck appearance.
Neck Surgery Recovery
Swelling and bruising will be present after neck surgery. A compressive neck dressing is used to help control swelling and to help the neck skin adapt to the new neck contour. Most patients can resume modest activity in 2 weeks. A complete recovery from neck surgery typically occurs in about 3 – 4 weeks. This surgery creates a tighter neck that appears softer and younger.
