Scottsdale, AZ board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. John Williams, is a body contouring surgeon, who often performs a lower body lift on patients who have lost a significant amount of weight. A lower body lift, otherwise known as a belt lipectomy, shapes the mid and lower body to restore a tighter look and feel to the abdomen, lower back, buttocks, hips, and thighs. Dr. Williams carefully removes loose and hanging skin that sags due to the skin not shrinking back to a normal appearance after significant weight loss. After a lower body lift, many of our patients are delighted with their new body shape and have a renewed sense of self-esteem.
"Words can not express how truly happy I am with my whole experience! I have wanted this surgery for years, but never thought I would actually voluntarily have someone cut me open. Trust in someone to do that is HUGE! Dr. Williams put me at ease immediately. After meeting and speaking with Dr. Williams I knew I was in good hands! He explained the whole process and everything I should expect (good and bad). If I had known about him before I wouldn’t have waited so long! His whole staff is fantastic, especially Adriana! Thank you for EVERYTHING! It’s been a month, I know I have a long way to go till I’m all healed, but I am already so very happy with the results! If you are looking for a great surgeon look no further!"- K.L. / Google / Sep 22, 2018
"Beautiful facility. Professional staff. I had botox injections done by Dr William's, but would definitely consider him for a surgical procedure. Prices are reasonable and no pressure from staff to do more. Will return!"- K.V. / Google / Feb 14, 2020

"As of right now I’ve only gone in for a consultation; however, I need to say how pleasant the staff & Dr. Williams are! They eased my mind and took the time to answer all my questions. I didn’t feel rushed & felt confident with their depth of knowledge. I plan on getting a few other opinions before officially deciding on the surgeon, but as far as I can tell-Dr. Williams & his staff will be my first choice!"- T.C. / Google / Feb 05, 2020
A lower body lift is considered a major surgery. Patients that undergo this procedure, in most cases, are those who have lost 75-100 pounds of weight or more. Dr. Williams performs this surgery on men and women who are close or at their goal weight, and requires that the weight loss be stabilized for at least 3 months. The best candidates are those who meet these qualifications, and who have sagging, loose and hanging skin around the stomach, lower back, hips, buttocks and thighs.
What to Expect
Sometimes called a belt lipectomy, a lower body lift uses an incision that is made around the belt area surrounding the lower torso. This is referred to as a circumferential incision. During surgery, Dr. Williams trims away and removes loose and sagging skin, and sometimes will use liposuction to remove isolated pockets of fat. The remaining skin is lifted up and secured with sutures. Several surgical techniques can be incorporated, including a tummy tuck, thigh lift, butt lift and liposuction to complete a full lower body lift.
In most cases, this procedure will require an overnight stay in the hospital or after care center. The surgery can last 6 to 8 hours depending on the number of procedures performed. The recovery for this surgery is slow. In addition to extensive incisions, the body and skin need adequate time to adjust to their new positions. Most patients can return to light activities within 2-3 weeks, but it could take up to 6-9 months to allow the surgical results to appear normal.
